7 of the Best Ways to Celebrate Men’s Health Month

Now that it's the month of June, a few things come to mind: warm weather, sunny days, and the feeling of summer approaching. Something that may not have immediately come to mind is that June is National Men’s Health Month! Every year in June, National Men’s Health Month aims to encourage men to take a closer look at their personal health, as well as bring awareness to preventable health problems that are typically unique to men. Leading up to Father’s Day on the 21st, the week of June 10-16th also happens to be Men’s National Health Week, which is a great time for men to re-evaluate and better their health. With all of the dedication to men’s health in the month of June, now is the perfect time to check in on male friends, family members, and other loved ones to ensure they’re happy and healthy. But don’t let your health-focused celebrations stop there. There are plenty of ways for men to focus on their health and really take advantage of this month. So, here are 7 ways to celebrate Men’s Health Month (and Week):

Make an Appointment With Your Doctor

There truly isn’t any better time to go in and see your doctor for a routine checkup. In the spirit of good health, take some time to make an appointment. Maybe you’ve been putting off going to the doctor, or you have a health concern you have yet to address. Whatever it may be, now is the time to go!

Reflect Upon Your Diet

For this health-focused month, take a moment to reflect upon your daily diet and intake. You could realize that you’re missing certain important nutrients, or perhaps your carbohydrate and fat intake is too high. Some simple ways to improve your daily diet can include cutting back on alcohol and increasing your consumption of healthy, fermented foods.

Exercise!

This one is easy. Grab a friend, roommate, loved one, or just yourself and dedicate time for some good ol’ exercise. Push yourself to exercise regularly throughout the month, and soon it’ll become second nature.

Plan out Some Health-Related Goals

No matter how healthy your lifestyle is, there are always ways you can continue to improve. Your health-related goals can be anything from weight loss, muscle gain, to eating more vegetables. Find something you’ve been meaning to improve upon, set small and achievable goals, and slowly but surely see yourself progress!

Get Your Screenings

It’s always a good idea to get health screenings. Doing so earlier on in life will end up saving you money on medical bills, and can significantly help in managing possible disease.

Educate Yourself

One of the most important things you can do for your well-being is to really take the time to educate yourself! Research and read up on common diseases and health issues specific to men, and learn about ways you can help prevent and combat such issues.

Wear a Blue Ribbon

Lastly, another great way for you to celebrate Men’s Health Month is to sport a blue ribbon. Blue ribbons are the official symbol of this health-focused month, so wear your blue ribbon in pride! Take the time this June to take care of your personal health, but also to take care of the health of your father, grandfather, brother, uncle, or any of the men in your life. Get yourself ready for the summer ahead by taking special care of your well-being this month!
